More About Collaborative Law

The approach that is the focus of DIVORCE ABCs is known as collaborative law. This is a relatively new concept designed to minimize conflict in helping to achieve a workable resolution. Both parties in a divorce agree to reach a mutually acceptable settlement without going to court.

This means working together rather than in an adversarial relationship. Both sides exchange financial and all other relevant information on a very open basis to make it possible to agree to well-informed solutions. The goal is to use a confidential process to reach a written agreement on ALL issues and concerns without having to involve a court proceeding.

Many refer to the collaborative approach to divorce as “family friendly.” It can help make the process much less complicated and ultimately much more successful for all parties involved – husband, wife and children. And it can really keep costs down!
